From the hors commerce set of 6, from the edition on linen with hand embellishment by the artist also consisting of 150 numbered examples, 15 artist's proofs annotated 'AP', and 1 bon a tirer annotated 'BAT', aside from the regular edition of 350 on wove paper (50 artist's European proofs annotated `EA', 50 artist's proofs annotated `AP', 50 hors commerce proofs annotated 'HC', and 21 printer's proofs annotated 'PP', and 1 bon a tirer annotated 'BAT' also exist). The artist has commented on this work as follows: When God spoke to my heart to paint this painting, I argued I did not have enough talent or knowledge of the Vietnam era. He reminded me that he was the talent behind my hands. Would I just be willing? He brought into my life some very special Vietnam Vets who instructed me and kept an eye on the painting to insure its' accuracy. I still remember the words God impressed on me while the painting was still just a thought. ``Please tell the Vietnam Vets I want them to come home and I welcome them with open arms''. To all who served in Vietnam: men, women, doctors, nurses, and volunteers. To those who are prisoners of war still unaccounted for and to those who are prisoners of war in their emotions and minds.And to those who died, but are never forgotten by those they left behind.I dedicate this painting to you: ``WELCOME HOME!''
