230013 Renoir, Pierre-Auguste Richard Wagner c. 1900 D.,S. 33 17 1/4'' x 12 1/2'' Lithograph printed in black on Japan paper. Collector's stamp of Henri Marie Petiet, black ink, verso (not in Lugt). From the first and only state. From an edition of 100 unsigned examples aside from the edition of 50 printed in soft black or grey and signed in pencil. The stone was effaced. Literature cited: Stella, Joseph G. The Graphic Work of Renoir: Catalogue Raisonne, London: Humphries. Provenance: Henri Marie Petiet (1894-1980) was a member of an esteemed French family who acquired the bulk of Vollard's estate after his death in 1939. His collection of prints and uniques included such names as Pierre Bonnard, Mary Cassatt, Andre Derain, Raoul Dufy, Charles Dufresne, Marie Laurencin, Aristide Maillol, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, Rouault, Signac, Jacques Villon, Vlaminck, Vuillard, Gauguin, and others.
