From the deluxe edition of 25 examples. The entire edition of 225 on Rives wove included 180 suites with 25 etchings with aquatint each unsigned, 20 hors commerce proofs reserved for the author and collaborators and the first 25 suites were printed with an additional set of etchings with aquatint on Japon Imperial, each hand signed. Published by Maeght. Chagall illustrated the words of French poet Louis Aragon for this suite of 25 etchings with aquatint. Louis Aragon was a founding member of the Surrealist movement whose poetry was diverse and often varied from the lyrical to political.
