226749 Rembrandt Van Rijn Old Bearded Man in High Fur Cap, with Eyes Closed 1635 B., Holl. 290; BB. 35-3 3 3/4'' x 3 3/4'' Etching on laid paper with uneven margins. Signed in the plate, Rembrandt, upper left, with the "R" in reverse above the signature cropped from the white space. White and Boon's first and only state, Biorklund Barnard's first and only state, and Nowell Eusticke's fourth state of five with wear in the dark areas of the face and cloak. According to Nowell Eusticke, a fourth state impression as issued by Jean (1810) still showing the vertical scratches in the background from the second state.
