214308 Rembrandt Van Rijn The Pancake Woman 1635 B., Holl. 124; H. 141 4 1/4'' x 3 1/2'' Etching on cream laid paper with clean, small margins. Signed and dated in the plate, Rembrandt. f 1635, bottom margin. Biorklund Barnard's fifth state of five, White and Boon's third state of three, and Nowell Eusticke's fifth state of six, after the upper left corner is inscribed "Tome II". According to Nowell Eusticke, an early fifth state impression as issued by P.F. Basan (1785-1797) with the inscription more or less erased, but the dark shading on the woman's hat and dress and the cross hatching on the woman holding the child at extreme left still strong. Nowell Eusticke refers to this impression as "good".
