From the limited numbered edition of 280 (28 artist's proofs and 2 foundry copies also exist). Nano Lopez calls his faunal sculptures "Nanimals." A zoomorphic take on their earthly counterparts, Lopez integrates numbers, letters, even roadsigns, to enhance his fantastical creatures. Though Lopez, a native Colombian, uses symbols and objects reminiscent of his homeland and Latin America in his art, he utilizes the ancient Greek and Roman "Lost Wax" process to cast his sculptures. This extensive method allows Lopez to achieve his complex detailing and ensure a seamless finish. For many of his "Nanimals", Lopez has created brief narratives that bring the sculptures to life by describing their personalities and activities they engage in. In the words of Nano Lopez, "for the weekend Thunder took her kid to a countryside road, to wave at the passing Earth Enthusiast Rally."
