207734 Rembrandt Van Rijn Beggar Man & Woman Conversing 1630 B., Holl. 164; BB. 30-A 3 1/8'' x 2 1/2'' Etching on thick laid paper with small, clean margins. Signed and dated in the plate, RHL, 1630, bottom left. Biorklund Barnard's first and only state, and Nowell Eusticke's second state of three showing the long horizontal scratch through the man's left hand to the woman's basket. According to Nowell Eusticke, an intermediate second state impression as issued by Jean (1810) with the scratches in the background but the impression "very good". White and Boon and Biorklund Barnard both concur that the "3" in the date was originally a "2".
