Ali vs. Sonny Liston
Sport Memorabilia
231651 Sport Memorabilia Ali vs. Sonny Liston Commemorative Boxing Glove 2008 22'' x 17'' Muhammad Ali collage consisting of an Everlast boxing glove hand-signed by Muhammad Ali in ink, one trading card from a 1991 series created by Beckett and licensed by the Boxing Hall of Fame, an Ali/Liston standee, and a plaque detailing events of the 1964 fight where the bout ended with Clay becoming the new heavy-weight champion of the world. From a limited edition of 495. An example of this hand-signed limited edition collage is in the permanent collection on display in the Muhammad Ali Center in Louisville, Kentucky. The gloves have been signed exclusively for Park West Gallery. In 1964 with a perfect record of 19-0, young boxer Cassius Clay was given the opportunity to fight the hard-fisting heavyweight champion, Sonny Liston. Many heavyweights were reluctant to face Liston due to his invincible knockout record. However, Clay jumped at the chance to fight the champion - and grab the spotlight that came with it. The two historic fights took place on February 25, 1964 in Miami Beach, Florida and on May 25, 1965 in Lewiston, Maine. When these gloves were signed by Muhammad Ali each were digitally photographed by OnlineAuthentics and assigned unique OnlineAuthentics numbers for each hand signature. The date of the signing and the unique signatures are contained on the OnlineAuthentics website. The unique OnlineAuthentics numbers which have been placed on the gloves enable the owner to verify the authenticity of the hand signature of Muhammad Ali on the OnlineAuthentics website. Since no two hand signatures can ever be exactly alike, the unique numbered digital registration of each Ali hand signature on the OnlineAuthentics website is the only certain way that a hand signature by Muhammad Ali on any object can be assured of authenticity.
